Boise Neighborhood Guide and Portland Homes for Sale

Sometimes referred to as “Boise-Eliot,” this North Portland community is beloved for its easy downtown Portland commute times as well as its fantastic residential properties. In fact, it’s probably one of the most unique and desirable residential communities to live in!

Located on the east side of the Willamette River, the Boise community shares borders with such Portland neighborhoods as Overlook, Humboldt, King and Eliot. It is also quite close to other neighborhoods like Concordia and Irvington.

This community is also well-known for two of its streets: Williams Avenue and Mississippi Avenue.

The Evolution of Boise

Boise wasn’t always a desirable place to live. But over the years, the city and the neighborhood have worked hard to make the community a true destination, with plenty of diverse amenities and attractions as well as a strong residential market.

Today the community (which was named for judge and politician Reuben Patrick Boise) is one of the more iconic neighborhoods of Portland.

Location, Location, Location!

As previously mentioned, the residents of Boise simply love their location! After all, you’re close to a number of major freeway ramps including I-5 and I-84. You’re also just minutes away from the Pearl District, Old Town/Chinatown and even the Max light rail.

For those bicycling to downtown, you’re looking at a commute that’s under half an hour!

What’s more, both Mississippi Avenue and Williams Avenue are located here. These streets are known for their eclectic vibes and fabulous shops.

Both of these streets are success stories in their own right – having seen a major makeover during the last couple of decades that put them on the map and shined a positive light on what they had to offer.

Some destinations and attractions that you may want to check out when you live in Boise include:

  • The Mississippi Street Fair (held annually in July)
  • Cirque du Cycling (a bicycle festival and race event)
  • ¿Por Que No? Taqueria
  • Mississippi Pizza Pub & Atlantis Lounge
  • The ReBuilding Center of Our United Villages
  • Gumbo Gifts & Gallery
  • North Portland Bike Works,
  • Mississippi Studios
  • The Crow Bar
  • Amnesia Brewing

It’s truly amazing how plentiful and diverse the amenities are here in Boise!

Of course, if you prefer the outdoors to stores, then you’ll also be pleased to discover that Boise offers several parks as well, including Denorval Unthank Park Baseball Field and basketball court, Boise-Eliot community park, Patton Community Garden, Dawson Park Basketball court and more!
