Kerns Neighborhood Guide and Portland Real Estate Information
This fantastic Portland neighborhood is located in the inner Northeast as well as the Southeast parts of the city. It shares borders with other city neighborhoods like Lloyd District, Sullivan’s Gulch, Laurelhurst, Buckman, Sunnyside and Old Town Chinatown.
This community, which is actually relatively close to downtown Portland, boasts a fairly heavy mixture of commercial and residential development.
Perhaps because of the limited inventory of available Kerns homes for sale, real estate here is always in demand! These properties are generally quite stately and were built with nothing but the highest standards in mind. Typical architectural styles you’ll find here include four-squares and Craftsman-style bungalows.
There are also a couple of east coast style apartment buildings in Kerns as well as some newer and more modern in-fill condos.
Recreational Amenities for Kerns Residents
As with other communities within the city, Kerns celebrates natural beauty through the maintenance of several parks, including Everett Community Park, Buckman Field and Oregon Park.
Meanwhile, there are also a number of notable dining and shopping establishments in this community, including Tabla, Pambiche and Navarre.
There are also a number of micro-breweries in this community, including Buckman Brewing, Migration Brewing, Coalition Brewing, Burnside Brewing and Natian Brwing.

Residents living here enjoy the fact that their children attend some top-performing schools within the Portland Public Schools system, including:
- Da Vinci Arts Middle School
- Benson Polytechnic High School
The Pacific Crest Community School is also located with Kerns.
